Bloom

I’ve seen many books come and go, collected and sown away. Usually, I try my best to hold onto them as tightly as I can. But to my frustration, no matter how tightly I hold on, they somehow slip away. Sometimes though, they suddenly return, slotted back amongst the rest. In other instances, I never see them again. When this happens, it makes my quite sad... like some part of me has been misplaced. I feel a little bit parched and somehow wilted. I wonder where they’ve gone and who’s luck enough to learn from their pages. Maybe they’re out somewhere, sowing seeds and creating the right conditions for our collective blossoming.

Palm Set

I once knew a person who attributed any bodily imbalance to dehydration. They say water has a cleasing quality. Sometimes I’m not so sure, that its sits in me until I feel even a layer of dust has collected over the still water. When this happens, I have forgotten my purpose. I wonder if my old friend is dehydrated, and if a cleanse is impending.

But when the water flows and the beverages poured, laughter vibrates and the whispers tickle. Only then do I know that movement is about, assured that the life I am supposed to serve is flowing along. I worry a little less, I remember a bit more. Yet I ponder.... maybe my friend is a bit more balanced and a bit more hydrated.

Totem

Sometimes to pass time, I daydream about hoisting up a big flagpole just to see the flag glutter in the wind. I wonder what the view is like up there, catching the fresh air, stretching for the sky. How free it must feel. As the incense burns and the ashes trickle onto me, I imagine thats what snowfall must feel like. Maybe one day I’ll get to be up there in the sky and float down with all those snowflakes, back down onto the ground where I most often stand...

As I lay there enveloped by the radiating scent, I often think about this theory someone once told me, that life originated in hot springs. That the mineral rich water carried up from under the earth’s crust would create the conditions necesary for the growth of organic molecules... I can’t help but think about the things that we hold within, that maybe sometimes, if we alllow it to bubble up, there is this alternative potential, an opportunity that can shift or even inspire new perspectives‘

Something to Reflect on

Sometimes when I look up, I see familiar and at times anonymous faces, they do all sorts of strange things, conversing in circles, discuss matters of life profane to the profound, swirling into some inner ruminations. I guess it’s a matter of method, a matter of reflection. I often wonder what must be going on inside their heads, as puffs of smoke rise and shroud their expressions…
